About the event
BYO favorite travel or local walk photo.
Relive a favorite memory of a place by bringing a colour photo to class to draw and paint. Colour photocopies of local places will be available if required. This method works well with scenes that have a structure in it. For example, a café scene, a ruin or a bridge over a creek, a house in a garden, a boat at sea, flowers in a vase etc. It was used by artists to quickly capture a scene and by draughtsman to draw houses for sale.
What to expect:
10.00am to 10.15 am - We’ll start the class with a friendly welcome, where Bethany will show examples of pen and wash drawings for inspiration.
10.15am to 12.30pm - Using their favorite photo as a guide, you will draw a basic layout in pencil on paper, then use a water and fade proof pen to create a detailed drawing, painting final layers of watercolours.
The following materials will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own if you'd prefer:
- Student watercolour paints, watercolour brushes & paper (2 x 300 gsm hot pressed watercolour paper) will be provided for this session.
- A light weight board big enough for A4 paper & masking tape.
